Tokom bitke, srpske pobunjenike pod komandom Stevana Sin\u0111eli\u0107a, opkolile su Osmanlije na brdu \u010cegar. Znaju\u0107i da \u0107e on i njegovi borci biti zarobljeni i mu\u010deni, Sin\u0111eli\u0107 je detonirao barut u pobunjeni\u010dkom \u0161ancu, ubiv\u0161i sebe, svoje pot\u010dinjene ali i veliki broj osmanskih vojnika.<\/span>\n\n<br><br>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'montserrat'; color: #121212;\">Namesnik rumelijskog elajeta Hur\u0161id pa\u0161a naredio je da se od lobanja palih pobunjenika napravi kula. Kula je visoka 4.5 metara i prvobitno je sadr\u017eala 952 lobanje ugra\u0111ene na \u010detiri strane u 14 redova.<\/span>\n\n<br><br>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'montserrat'; color: #121212;\">1961. godine Midhat pa\u0161a, poslednji osmanski guverner Ni\u0161a, naredio je da se \u0106ele Kula razmontira. Nakon povla\u010denja osmanlija iz Ni\u0161a 1878. godine, objekat je delimi\u010dno obnovljen i pokriven baldahinom. Izgradnja kapele koja okru\u017euje objekat zapo\u010deta je 1892. a zavr\u0161ena je 1894. godine. Kapela je obnovljena 1973. godine. a slede\u0107e godine dodata je i bista Stevana Sin\u0111eli\u0107a. \u0106ele kula je 1948. godine progla\u0161ena za spomenik kulture od izuzetnog zna\u010daja i stavljena je pod za\u0161titu Republike Srbije. Dalja obnova kapele izvr\u0161ena je 1989. godine.<\/span>\n\n<br><br>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'montserrat'; color: #121212;\">Do 2022. godine, u zidovima \u0106ele kule preostalo je 58 lobanja. Pored same kule, stoji izdvojena lobanja za koju se veruje da pripada Stevanu Sin\u0111eli\u0107u.
